Echo-Ward Wristlet

UncommonInvestedArcaneMagical

Price 30 gp

Usage worn (wristlet); Bulk —

A narrow bracelet of blackened steel carries a row of tiny hexagonal panes of smoky glass, each etched with half a rune. When the wearer gathers magic back into a weapon, the incomplete sigils briefly meet in the glass, resembling a shield seen from several directions at once. Macridi's precision engravers once called this arrangement a returning circuit.

Activate ◇ (concentrate)

Frequency twice per day

Trigger You recharge your Spellstrike, whether with the Recharge Spellstrike action or another ability that recharges it.

Requirements You are a magus who has invested and is wearing the wristlet.

Effect The wristlet catches the returning arcane current in a faint shell of hexagonal light. You gain a +1 circumstance bonus to your next saving throw against a spell or other magical effect before the start of your next turn. The benefit ends after that saving throw, whether or not you succeed.

Limitations This activation does not recharge Spellstrike by itself, grant another action or reaction, reduce spell damage, or improve saving throws against nonmagical effects. Its circumstance bonus does not stack with another circumstance bonus to the same saving throw.

Magus

Prerequisites Spellstrike

Item benefit While you are a magus who has invested and is wearing the wristlet, you gain the benefits of Magus's Analysis. If you already possess the feat, its benefits do not stack.

Activate ◆ You attempt to Recall Knowledge about a creature and recharge your Spellstrike as part of this action. You gain a +1 circumstance bonus to the Recall Knowledge check if you have already hit that creature with a Strike during this turn.

After you target a creature with Magus's Analysis, that creature is temporarily immune to the feat for 1 day. The wristlet does not remove that restriction, provide a second recharge, or bypass prerequisites.

Cast ◆

Duration until the start of your next turn

Effect You raise a shield of magical force. This counts as Raising a Shield, granting a +1 circumstance bonus to AC without requiring a free hand. While the shield remains raised, you can use the Shield Block reaction with it. The magical shield has Hardness 5.

The magical shield can also block damage from a spell or magical effect, even when it doesn't deal physical damage. After you use its Shield Block reaction, the spell ends and you cannot cast Shield again for 10 minutes.

Heightened (+2) The shield's Hardness increases by 5.

The wristlet casts Shield at rank 1; its heightened effect is included for reference only. The item doesn't bypass Shield's 10-minute cooldown or grant a second reaction.

Special The wristlet must be invested. Countercurrent Ward and Magus's Analysis function only for a magus with Spellstrike; Shield can be activated by any invested wearer. No additional spell slots, Spellstrikes, conflux spells, Arcane Cascade benefits, or reactions are granted. Countercurrent Ward's two daily uses belong to the item and do not refresh when passed to another creature.

GM Placement An engraved bracer recovered from the Lower Works beside an abandoned arcane survey, or a commission held for pickup at New Macridi's Nine Hammers Cooperative.

Custom homebrew permanent item.
