Scene 3B: The Exhaust Gate Breach
Scene 3 — The Exhaust Gate Breach
The final prison exit is a pressure gate opening into Daegox-4’s ash desert. CUSTOS-9 deploys a Warden Mech to recover the twins. The intended encounter is an objective boss fight: the crew can destroy the mech, open the gate under fire, or use the twins’ resonance to tear the mounting rails out of the wall.
| Start | Planned End | Current Development |
|---|---|---|
| The crew enters the exhaust plenum. | The gate opens into a planet-wide dust storm. | 30%: boss concept, draft statistics, scaling targets, and objectives exist; final map, tactics, hazard integration, rewards, and cinematic escape are incomplete. |
Scene 3 — Remaining Development
| Needed for 100% | Design Question |
|---|---|
| Final boss math | Playtest the mech’s reaction and cone damage against both 4-PC and 7-PC groups. |
| Recovery pacing | Decide whether the crew receives 10 minutes before the boss or finds a one-use recovery station. |
| Gate subsystem | Set exact action costs, critical results, and how opening stages alter the battlefield. |
| Resonance route | Define how trust earned in Scene 1 changes the twins’ willingness to overload the gate. |
| Fail-forward result | The crew must reach the surface even if defeated; likely capture, damaged escape gear, or a sacrifice by Rook. |
| Treasure and evidence | Determine the Warden core’s value and whether it contains a direct link to Handler Ilex Mora. |
| Ashstorm transition | Write the cinematic exit and the first survival problem before the safehouse. |
