Danum Karland has contracted the party to travel to Reiver's Right and determine why the logging camp has gone silent. No messages, workers, timber shipments, couriers, or production tallies have arrived from the camp for four straight days.

The disappearance comes while an increasing number of logs reaching Old Macridi are showing an unusual blight marked by thick, oily black sap. There is currently no proof that Reiver's Right is the source of the affected timber. Karland wants to know what happened at the camp and whether the two problems are connected.

Reach & Assess Reiver's Right

Reach Reiver's Right and make an initial assessment of whether the camp was abandoned, attacked, evacuated, or otherwise incapacitated.

Account for the Workforce

Determine what happened to Foreman Hendrick and the roughly fifty workers stationed at the camp. Locate and question any survivors or witnesses who can explain what happened before communications stopped.

Investigate the Camp

Search the bunkhouses, sawyard, storehouses, logging facilities, and surrounding grounds for evidence explaining the camp's disappearance. Look for signs of unusual assignments, recent changes in camp operations, missing supplies, or work that does not fit the camp's normal routine.

Recover Records

Locate and secure Foreman Hendrick's camp ledger, if it can be found. Recover useful work orders, correspondence, timber tallies, supply records, or other documents that may explain the camp's final days.

Investigate the Blight

Look for oily black sap, diseased vegetation, altered wildlife, contaminated water, or other symptoms resembling the blight found at Karland's Sawmill. Safely recover useful samples or physical evidence of the corruption, if possible. Determine whether the evidence suggests a connection between the camp's disappearance and the blighted timber reaching Old Macridi.

Optional Discoveries & Related Requests

These findings are not required to complete Karland's contract, but may help explain what happened at Reiver's Right or fulfill separate requests the party has received concerning the camp.

Determine what the camp's workers were doing immediately before communications stopped. Determine whether the corruption appears concentrated in particular parts of the camp or follows any recognizable pattern. Recover meaningful personal effects or belongings that can be returned to missing workers' families. Sanctitude Saunas — Derrin Hale: Look for evidence that Derrin Hale reached Reiver's Right while delivering an unusually well-paid freight shipment, and determine where he went after completing the delivery. Prophetess Maelin Vos has offered 75 gp for reliable information establishing what became of him, or 150 gp if Derrin is found alive and safely returned to Macridi. Orvik Brasshand — Halven Dorr: Determine what happened to Halven Dorr, who was sent to Reiver's Right to inspect and purchase finished darkwood and has not returned. View Orvik's request. Look for evidence of Halven's darkwood inspection, including stock he may have accepted or rejected, and recover any useful information explaining why he disappeared. Pheyess — Darkwood Heartwood Beam: Locate the oversized darkwood beam stored near Reiver's Right and marked with Pheyess's artisan's sign: two carved leaves joined at the stem. View Pheyess's request. Determine whether Pheyess's beam remains sound. If necessary, inspect only a small shaving from beneath the artisan mark and watch for black veining, wet discoloration, or other signs of corruption. If possible, recover evidence showing whether corrupted timber contributed to the failure of Pheyess's earlier Kerse work.

Return to Old Macridi

Return to Karland's Sawmill with the party's findings, recovered records, and any physical evidence. Report what happened at Reiver's Right and collect the 200 gp completion bounty.

Karland is not asking the party to solve the wider Palakar blight. The immediate objective is to determine what happened at Reiver's Right, account for the missing workforce, recover useful evidence, and establish whether the camp's disappearance is connected to the blighted timber reaching Old Macridi. The Derrin Hale, Halven Dorr, and darkwood heartwood requests are separate objectives the party may pursue while investigating the camp.
