The Ash Lift
A freight lift hangs over a black shaft. Its chains disappear into the ceiling, and the platform is covered in fresh footprints that stop at the edge.
The lift connects this level to the hidden service levels. It can carry the party toward the next act, but the brake has been deliberately sabotaged.
Success: The lift becomes a reliable escape or pursuit route. The party may move between levels without splitting.
Complication: The lift jolts one level and drops gear into the shaft. A recovery climb remains possible.
Delay clock: At the end of every second round, the counterweight moves and creates a new unstable section. The final setback adds a moderate hazard, not a dead end.
