Auginford — The River Watchhouse

The River Watchhouse
The watchhouse is a low timber building beside the bridge, with a bell rope hanging through the ceiling. Its walls are covered in practical marks: flood heights, patrol routes, and names of people who never returned from the south road.
The watchhouse is not a military fort. It is a place for keeping the bridge clear, recording disturbances, and organizing searches. The volunteers know the village well but are outmatched by anything that comes from the Mansions.
Useful services
- Local reports: the watch can share recent sightings, patrol gaps, and safe times to cross the bridge.
- Equipment: spare lanterns, rope, poles, and a battered signal bell can be borrowed with a promise to return them.
- Search party: the watch can send two volunteers to assist with a rescue, but not into the Mansions without proof the route is safe.
