Sister Mirela Voss
Appearance: In her forties, with premature gray hair pulled into a severe bun. Her hands are permanently ink-stained from copying religious texts. She wears the simple gray robes of a Pharasmin anchorite, but her eyes are fierce with intelligence and grief.
Personality: Mirela is kind but exhausted. She has not slept more than two hours in ten days. She believes absolutely in Pharasma's justice but has begun to question whether the gods are doing enough to protect the mortals who worship them. She is the party's most reliable ally but cannot leave Thornwick until the tear is sealed.
Background: Born in Thornwick, Mirela left at sixteen to join the Pharasmin church in Caliphas. She returned five years ago to tend the village church. She knew many of the "echoes" when they were living. Seeing them trapped causes her genuine anguish.
What she wants: The tears sealed. The Veilbreaker stopped. And, privately, to understand why Pharasma allowed this to happen.
Main
Goals: Seal the veil-tears, protect Thornwick, understand the Veilbreaker's motivation.
Relationships: Devoted to Pharasma but questioning. Fond of the party, whom she sees as instruments of the Lady's will. Grieves for the villagers she could not save.
Secrets: Mirela has had dreams of the Boneyard since childhood. She believes she was meant to be a psychopomp but was born mortal by mistake. She has never told anyone this.
GM Notes
Combat Role: Support healer and buffer. Mirela avoids direct combat but will defend the party with sanctuary and heal.
Plot Function: Exposition, emotional anchor, and potential sacrifice. If the party struggles in Act 3, Mirela can offer to become the Threshold guardian (Option 3), though she is terrified of this fate.
Voice: Soft but firm. Uses religious metaphors constantly. Calls the party "the Lady's instruments."
