GM Brief: Running the Climax
Running the Climax
This scene should feel earned. Let the players talk. Let them argue. Let them try wild schemes. The Veilbreaker is patient — it believes it has already won. It will answer questions, debate philosophy, and even express genuine curiosity about why mortals fear freedom.
If combat breaks out, make it feel tragic. Keth-Veyr is not cackling; it is weeping as it fights. Its attacks are described as desperate, not cruel. If redeemed, its transformation should feel like dawn after a long night.
Epilogue Hooks:
- If Keth-Veyr was destroyed: Its essence scattered. Fragments may reform elsewhere. Other psychopomps may seek revenge or understanding.
- If redeemed: Keth-Veyr's "ghost" occasionally appears to guide the party in future adventures.
- If a PC became guardian: The Threshold becomes a base of operations. The guardian-PC can grant planar travel, scrying on the dead, and resurrection discounts.
