The Veilbreaker's Avatar
CombatArea TH4 — The Judgment Chamber
The heart of the Threshold. A domed chamber where the floor is a mosaic of the Boneyard itself — the Spire, the Gray, the courts of judgment. At the center stands the Veilbreaker's Avatar: a twelve-foot figure of silver and shadow, Keth-Veyr's idealized self-image before its fall. The final shard pulses in its chest like a second heart.
Phase 1 — The Avatar's Wrath: The avatar fights with divine fury, using divine lance (negative damage), spirit blast (30-foot cone, 4d8 mental, DC 24 Will), and veil-sunder (reaction: when hit, the attacker must save or become drained 1).
Phase 2 — The Shard Exposed: When the avatar drops below 50 HP, the shard becomes visible, protruding from its chest. It can now be targeted (AC 20, HP 30, BT 15). Removing the shard (Thievery DC 26 or Athletics DC 24 to rip it free) causes the avatar to lose its veil-sunder reaction and its negative damage resistance.
Phase 3 — Desperation: Below 25 HP, the avatar attempts to merge with the shard (2 actions). If successful, it heals 30 HP and gains fast healing 10 for 3 rounds. This is its last gambit.
Environmental Hazard: The chamber's mosaic shifts each round — random squares become the Gray (difficult terrain, 1d6 negative damage to start turn). The avatar is immune; the party is not.
