Background: Durmak is a veteran of the Five Kings Mountains militia, discharged after a cave-in crushed his left hand. The clerics saved the hand but not the nerves — he has only partial feeling in it. He came to Ustalav seeking mercenary work and found Sister Mirela's letter instead.

Goals: Earn enough to buy a farm. Prove he can still fight despite his injury. Protect those who cannot protect themselves.

Personality: Gruff, practical, surprisingly gentle with children and animals. Hates undead with a passion that borders on religious fervor. Does not trust magic he cannot see.

Hook: Durmak's great-grandfather fought in the Shining Crusade and never returned. The Gallery of Faces may hold his ancestor's visage — and his final message.
