The Church Crypt
The Church Crypt
Beneath the church, the veil-tear is visible as a jagged wound in the air — a vertical slit from which pale light bleeds. The shard sits on the altar stone, pulsing with sickly radiance. It is roughly the size of a fist, obsidian-black with veins of silver light.
Purifying the Shard: The shard can be destroyed physically (hardness 8, HP 40, BT 20), but this causes a psychic backlash (DC 20 Will save or stunned 1). Alternatively, a character can attempt to purify it with a 1-hour ritual requiring:
- Religion DC 22 (trained) or Occultism DC 24 (trained)
- Expenditure of a 2nd-level spell slot or equivalent focus points
- Assistance from Sister Mirela (grants +2 circumstance bonus)
Success: The shard becomes inert gray stone. The tear seals. The echoes vanish. Sister Mirela weeps with gratitude.
Failure: The shard pulses. 1d4 echoes manifest in the crypt (moderate encounter).
