The Soul-Hunger

The Soul-Hunger is not a natural creature. It is a psychopomp that has been corrupted by the Veilbreaker's shard — specifically, a former morrigna (death-specter) named Selene who was Keth-Veyr's companion. Where Keth-Veyr seeks to destroy the Veil, Selene simply devours what passes through, unable to stop herself.

Selene can be reasoned with, briefly, in moments of clarity. She recognizes Sister Mirela's prayers. She hates what she has become. A party that shows mercy may gain a powerful ally — or at least avoid a terrible fight.
