Level 1-2 Treasure Menu

PF2e Remaster — Treasure Selection

Party Treasure Menu

Level 1 — Five-Character Party

How This Works

Instead of receiving a fixed package of treasure, the party may choose from a curated selection until each treasure category reaches its limit.

Each category has its own budget. Permanent-item slots cannot normally be converted into consumables or cash, and consumable slots cannot normally be converted into additional currency.

This preserves Pathfinder Second Edition's expected treasure progression while giving the party more control over which rewards are actually useful to them.

Level 1 Treasure Allowance

Treasure Pool Party Allowance
Level 2 Permanent Items 2 slots
Level 1 Permanent Items 2 slots
Extra Permanent Item 1 slot, level 1 or level 2
Level 2 Consumables 3 slots
Level 1 Consumables 4 slots
Currency / Valuables / Raw Materials 50 gp
Permanent Item Flexibility

The extra permanent-item slot can be used for either a level 1 or level 2 permanent item.

That means the final permanent-item distribution can be either:

  • 3 level 2 items and 2 level 1 items, or
  • 2 level 2 items and 3 level 1 items.

Permanent Item Menu

Choose common permanent items of the appropriate level until the permanent-item allowance is exhausted.

Selection Item Level Uses
+1 Weapon Potency Rune 2 Weapon upgrade
Common Skill Item 1–2 Supports a skill or exploration specialty
Common Worn Item 1–2 Utility or character-focused benefit
Common Exploration Item 1–2 Travel, investigation, survival, or utility
Other Common Permanent Item 1–2 Any approved common item of the correct level
Permanent Item Limit

A permanent-item slot purchases one permanent item of the appropriate level.

An unused permanent-item slot does not automatically become its full gp value in cash.

Consumable Menu

Choose common consumable items of the appropriate level until the consumable allowance is exhausted.

Selection Typical Level Category
Elixir of Life 1+ Alchemical
Alchemical Bomb 1+ Alchemical
Antidote 1+ Alchemical
Antiplague 1+ Alchemical
Potion 1–2 Magical Consumable
Scroll 1–2 Magical Consumable
Talisman 1–2 Consumable
Other Common Consumable 1–2 Any approved common consumable of the correct level
Consumable Limit

Each consumable slot purchases one consumable item of the appropriate level.

An unused consumable slot does not automatically convert into its full gp value in currency.

Currency, Valuables, and Crafting Materials

The party also has a separate 50 gp treasure pool.

This portion can be divided freely among coins, valuables, trade goods, and appropriate raw crafting materials.

Example Treasure Type
Coins Currency
Gemstones Valuables
Jewelry or Trade Goods Valuables
Alchemical Reagents Raw Crafting Materials
Cold Iron Stock Raw Crafting Materials
Silver Stock Raw Crafting Materials
Specialized Wood, Resin, Oils, or Pigments Raw Crafting Materials
Example 50 gp Selection
  • 10 gp in alchemical reagents
  • 10 gp in cold iron stock
  • 5 gp in silver stock
  • 15 gp in gemstones
  • 10 gp in coins

Total: 50 gp

Raw Materials and Consumables

Raw crafting materials do not use consumable-item slots.

For example, 5 gp worth of alchemical reagents is still 5 gp from the currency and valuables pool, even if an alchemist later uses those materials to Craft several consumable items.

The ability to turn raw materials into useful equipment comes from the character's Crafting abilities and does not change the treasure category of the original reward.

Selection Rules

Treasure Menu Rules
  • Items must normally be common unless another option is specifically approved.
  • Items must be within the level permitted by the relevant treasure slot.
  • Permanent-item slots purchase permanent items.
  • Consumable slots purchase consumable items.
  • Raw materials, valuables, and coins come from the separate gp treasure pool.
  • Raw materials do not consume permanent-item or consumable-item slots.
  • Unused item slots do not automatically convert into their full market value in cash.
  • The party may coordinate selections and distribute items among characters however it wishes.

Level 1 Permanent 0 2
