Arrival at New Lhesper

Location: New Lhesper, southern shore of Lake Lhespen

Time: Late afternoon, overcast

The track winds through tall grass and scrub, the air thick with the scent of damp earth and distant water. Ahead, the ramshackle buildings of New Lhesper huddle against the lake's southern shore, their roofs patched with salvaged wood and stone.

A carving above the harbor gate reads: "Never camp where the water is still."

Description: New Lhesper is a rough settlement of about 250 souls. Fishing boats bob in the harbor. The Rusty Hook tavern dominates the waterfront. A crumbling watchtower stands on the hill. Faint whispers seem to ride the wind from the lake's direction.

Mood: Unease, curiosity, low-grade dread
