Campaign Primer
The town of Macridi stands as a monument to the power of long-term investment, a city of stark contrasts hiding immense wealth behind unassuming timber facades. Local Kalistocrats, driven by the Prophecies of Kalistrade, view the forest not as a resource to be consumed, but as a portfolio to be managed. They wear austere white robes and practice the Blood Price, ensuring that every act of transgression is paid for in coin. This philosophy has forged a fragile peace between human loggers and the fierce fey, who tolerate harvesting as long as the balance of the wild is respected.
However, this delicate equilibrium is shattering. A strange blight has begun creeping from the abandoned camp of Reiver's Right, turning the very soil into a toxic morass. The Court of Seasons has sealed its borders in terror, while the Court of Endless Revelry has fallen into a panicked silence. The satyrs have stopped laughing, the naiads have fled the rivers, and the trees themselves seem to hold their breath, waiting for something terrible to snap. At the confluence of the Great Goldpan and Profit's Flow, the loggers whisper that the forest has begun to eat the sunlight.
Whispers speak of an open portal to Hell beneath the Pulgari Estate, and strange stone markers bearing a pale hand and blackened blade are appearing around the Desolation Blade Mounts. As the rivers of profit and prophecy run with poison, the party's investigation will determine the fate of the town and uncover the ancient history of the Macridi Blade culture. The old dark magic of the ancient Kellid people, buried beneath the dwarven ruins, is waking up, and it demands a price far steeper than gold.
