Wanderer's Guide Import

Import and re-import Pathfinder 2e characters into native Foundry actors.

Source: Wanderer's Guide Import repository

Requirements

Foundry v12–v14 and PF2e 6.0.0+ (verified on Foundry v14 / PF2e 8.6.1). A Wanderer's Guide account, an API client key and per-character API client access are required.

Install in Foundry

  1. On Foundry's Setup screen, select Add-on Modules → Install Module.
  2. Paste the following Manifest URL, then select Install:
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/edmund-landgraf/foundry-wanderersguide-import/main/module.json
  1. Launch a PF2e world as GM. Under Game Settings → Manage Modules, enable Wanderer's Guide Import and save.

Create and configure the API client

  1. In Wanderer's Guide, open Account Settings → API Clients, create a client and copy its key.
  2. Grant that client access to each character you want to import. Campaign visibility does not necessarily grant export access.
  3. In Foundry, open Configure Settings → Wanderer's Guide Import and paste the key into API Key.
  4. Select WG Server: Production for https://amba.wandersguide.site/functions/v1, or Custom for your own deployed server.

Import your first PC

  1. Open the Actors sidebar and click Import from Wanderer's Guide.
  2. Choose the account tab or the campaign tab, then select one or more accessible characters.
  3. Optionally tick Preview changes only for a dry run and Check parity for a report.
  4. Click Import selected, review the proposed plan and select Apply.
  5. Open the resulting PF2e actor and review the whispered import report for unresolved selections.

Updating characters

Re-import the same WG character to update its existing Foundry actor (matched by WG character ID and API host). Current HP, temporary HP, prepared spells and spell-slot usage are preserved where matching spellcasting entries survive.

Troubleshooting and limits

  • API key rejected: recopy it from WG API Clients.
  • No characters: grant the API client access to the PCs.
  • 404: check that the selected server has the required wgui-ext functions deployed.
  • 429: rate limiting; the client retries with backoff.
  • Missing feats, skills or spells: review unresolved choices. All class mappings remain experimental and many derived PF2e fields are not fully reconciled.

Back up live worlds before updating characters; test first in a disposable world. This is not continuous two-way sync.
